When I was fourteen my dad got a Sony camcorder for Christmas. I stole it from him like, immediately. I was obsessed with it. I didn't learn that much about photography until I went to film school though.
I take my artistic visions wherever I can find them. I've got dozens. Let me tell you about my vegan cheese sometime.
At first the photos were just for, you know. The hypothetical history books. [...] I've never really had any interest in journalism before but it felt like someone should be doing it. Then I kept at it so I could pretend I was an embed in a warzone and I'd get to go home afterwards. But I did start to find the artistic angle in it eventually. I guess the vision is looking out for moments people are going to want to reminisce about in fifty years.
My MFA days are far behind me. Liked reading this, though. Think it bodes well for the community that someone's still got these things on their mind. Images for people we might never meet. Images for versions of ourselves we don't know yet. It brings me comfort to think about living in that reflection.
